Position Profile

The Tax Manager will serve as a true manager and operational leader of the tax practice, overseeing day-to-day tax operations while directly supporting and managing additional tax preparers and team members. This role will combine sophisticated tax planning, preparation, review, and advisory services for high-net-worth individuals and families with responsibility for workflow management, quality control, deadlines, team development, and client relationships. The ideal candidate has 6–10 years of tax experience, holds a CPA or EA, and brings strong experience with complex individual and business tax matters. Estate and trust tax planning experience is a strong plus, as is experience working within a boutique, relationship-driven environment where white-glove service, discretion, accuracy, and proactive client communication are paramount.


  • 10+ years of professional tax experience, ideally within a CPA firm, wealth management practice, family office, or boutique advisory environment.

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) required.

  • Strong experience with individual and business tax planning, preparation, compliance, and advisory services.

  • Estate and trust tax planning experience strongly preferred, particularly experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families.

  • Experience providing high-touch, white-glove service to affluent and high-net-worth clients.

  • Strong ability to serve as a trusted tax advisor, developing long-term client relationships and proactively identifying planning opportunities.

  • Experience managing complex tax engagements, coordinating deadlines, and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional client service.

  • Highly detail-oriented, analytical, and solutions-focused, with the ability to navigate complex tax matters and communicate recommendations clearly.

  • Comfortable working in a boutique, relationship-driven environment where discretion, responsiveness, and personalized service are essential.

  • Ability to collaborate closely with financial advisors, estate planning attorneys, investment professionals, and other professional advisors to deliver an integrated client experience.

  • Strong knowledge of current federal and state tax regulations, with Michigan tax experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships and engagements independently while maintaining a high standard of service.
